Electric Rocks

Lightning captured within stone

Electric Rocks Lamp transforms one of nature’s most sudden and powerful phenomena into a sculptural lighting object. Two blocks of marble appear ruptured apart while a lightning bolt is captured mid impact between them, frozen at the moment of greatest force. Designed by British designer Mark Mitchell and produced by Serafini, the piece holds a fleeting microsecond of energy in permanent form. Lightning can carry hundreds of millions of volts and yet within this marble composition the violence of the strike becomes silent and still. The lamp evokes the paradox of power and calm existing simultaneously. The marble surfaces suggest the weight of geological time while the electric arc introduces a moment of cosmic intensity. Through this tension Electric Rocks Lamp becomes more than illumination. It becomes a spatial experience where energy is held inside stone.

The mythology of lightning struck stone

Throughout history stones struck by lightning were considered rare and extraordinary. Surfaces altered by celestial force were believed to hold traces of the event that transformed them. Electric Rocks Lamp draws from this fascination with nature’s most violent instant and reinterprets it as a contemporary sculptural object. Designed by Mark Mitchell for Serafini, the lamp invites viewers to walk around a moment that would normally exist for only fractions of a second. The frozen lightning arc suggests overwhelming heat and sound yet the object itself remains cool and quiet. The bolt feels dangerous yet contained between the marble volumes. This tension creates a poetic pause within the interior environment. As lighting it emphasizes presence rather than brightness, creating an atmosphere where stillness and energy coexist within the same form.

Custom craftsmanship and sculptural lighting with Serafini

Electric Rocks Lamp is crafted from luxury high end marble selected for its raw natural beauty and mineral depth. The stone surfaces are carefully polished before being coated with gold leaf to intensify the visual presence of the lightning strike. The electric arc itself is entirely handcrafted using stainless steel and 2200K diodes arranged to mimic the irregular intensity of a real electrical discharge. Produced by Serafini, the lamp reflects the dialogue between advanced craftsmanship and natural materials. Each piece is fully custom in marble selection and finish, ensuring that every object remains unique. Designed by Mark Mitchell, Electric Rocks Lamp combines lighting design, sculpture and marble craftsmanship into a singular collectible object that illuminates the home with extraordinary presence.

The uniqueness of marble creation

Serafini s.r.l. informs consumers, clients, and third parties in general that:

All of its products have the required characteristics that ensure normal operation and safety in use.

They are made from natural stone blocks: they feature exclusive, unique, and unrepeatable characteristics, such as color veins in different shades, and may differ from reference images, scale models, and sample materials provided. All references are always indicative to facilitate customer understanding.

The block, due to its natural characteristics, may potentially present cracks or fractures where there is greater fragility, as these are unpredictable. Any imperfections present, attributable to the naturalness of the stones, may be glued or resin-treated, but they do not constitute a defect.

Adequate packaging is used to ensure the safety of the product during shipment. Wooden crates secure the products in the appropriate and efficient position. The customer must open and inspect the material within eight (8) days of receipt, in compliance with the legal term. In case of breakage, the customer must report it within this period to be entitled to the warranty. Assemble according to the suggested instructions.
